Andrés is the founder of Savia Ventures, the Venture Capital firm with the leading climate expertise team in Latin America.
His impact journey began doing social work in the slums of Chile and defending inmates as an attorney in Santiago’s prison. He embarked on a planned 6-month trip to Australia, which unexpectedly turned into 8 years, an Aussie citizenship, building mega-sized projects in the resources sector and a deep understanding of sustainability. Equipped with an Oxford MBA, he returned to Latin America to support entrepreneurs addressing climate challenges. After working with hundreds of founders, from eco-housing in rural Mexico, park development from recycled tyres in Bolivia, and AI-enhanced mining in Chile, Andrés identified a critical gap for specialized climate venture capital. He is now on a mission to uncover the region’s huge untapped climate opportunity and empower overlooked founders. Besides leading Savia, Andrés is a venture capital professor, rock climber and perpetual amateur salsa dancer.
